We are not supposed to feel good when a baby cries. The worst thing is when the baby cries at night. Most babies cry at night. A very small number of babies do not cry at night—less than 2%. But there are certain types of crying; some babies cry so much that it bothers us a lot. Many babies stop crying after being fed. Our children used to cry at night and sometimes still do. We will share with you the things we did to stop our children from crying at night.
Follow some rules.
When the child cries at night, we will tell you the procedures we used to calm him down. We gently stroke his back and head with our hands, hug the child, and walk around the room humming. While hugging him, we gently pat his back. Keep the baby against your chest and gently rock him. Keep walking and swinging. Any kind of loud music or musical instruments will likely be more annoying and cause him to cry more.
Take him to a noise-free environment. Find a quiet place that will calm him down. You will also learn which environment is most suitable for the child, as I did when my baby cried. When he was crying, I would direct his attention to his favourite food, games, or places. Show him his favourite toys repeatedly.
Sing to him in a soft, humming voice. His hands and feet can be gently pressed to comfort him.
Keep the child in a comfortable environment.
If the baby is breastfed or bottle-fed, try to get him to drink. The baby’s father should also spend time with him, so both parents can comfort the baby with hugs and affection. Dress the baby in light cotton clothes, avoiding tight-fitting clothing. Change the diaper or clothes if necessary until the crying stops. Observe the room temperature to ensure it is comfortable. Keep in mind that babies need a lot of sleep, and avoid anything that could disrupt their sleep.
Look at the baby's arms and legs when he cries.
Why did I ask the child to look at his hands and feet when he cries? The thing is, what I have seen is that when the baby cries at night, most of the time he clenches his fists, folds his legs, and keeps them tight. By doing this, we can understand which part of his back or body is hurting. Then we put him on his back and soothe him with warm clothes. Besides, I used to drink warm water with turmeric. He often cries due to gas in his stomach. As per the doctor’s advice, if any medicine was prescribed earlier, I would give it to him.
It should be noted that children need a lot of sleep and should not have any kind of sleep problem.
